Notes on Walking

This is an example essay with photos. Delete it once you’ve seen how it works.

To add a photo, drop the image file into the essays/images folder and reference it on its own line:

The text in quotes becomes the caption. The part in brackets is the alt text, which screen readers use and which shows if the image fails to load. Because the path is relative to this file, the photo also shows up in iA Writer’s preview while you write.

Behind the scenes, the site makes several sizes of every photo in a modern format (WebP, with a JPEG fallback). A 6 MB photo from your phone reaches readers as a file of a few hundred kilobytes, and you never have to resize anything yourself.

block quotes, for when someone else said it better.
